ConsultAssistent: of predictive value

By using predictive insights and decision support streamlining consultations, Consult Assistent improves patient preparation, and collects structured data for informed decision-making.

Pitch Initiative:

ConsultAssistent was conceived based on the insights of Professor Henk Blom, who observed that valuable data generated during medical consultations often remained underutilized. Additionally, his goal was to develop a practical solution that would improve patient and physician preparation for consultations, allowing for more efficient use of consultation time and eliminating repetitive inquiries. For these reasons, ConsultAssistent builds modules for digital auto-anamnesis and PROMs and PREMs. By storing and analyzing all the collected data, ConsultAssistent can provide predictive insights and valuable prognoses, adding a predictive dimension to its capabilities. With ConsultAssistent, a significant portion of the questions traditionally asked by the physician during the consultation are pre-structured and digitally administered to the patient. Through
adaptive, complaint-focused question modules, only the relevant questions are posed from thousands of medical history and follow-up queries. The responses are summarized in a medical report and made available in a research database. ConsultAssistent leverages HL7 and FHIR integrations to seamlessly access electronic patient records (EPRs). ConsultAssistent also offers decision-support, guiding the physician in identifying triage options, specific diagnoses, and red
flags.

The implementation of ConsultAssistent enables physicians to organize their consultations more effectively and efficiently. Patients and physicians can both better prepare for consultations, thereby improving the interaction during the consultation. In addition, structured data is collected continually on the initial patient presentation, the course of treatment as perceived by the patient, and the evolution of symptoms. Analysis of the collected data serves as a crucial
foundation for gaining insights into predicting future trends and making more informed decisions. This data enables continuous learning with each patient and enhances the quality of care for subsequent patients. This is imperative as the number of patients is growing while the number of healthcare providers remains limited. Currently, we have adaptive auto-anamnesis and follow-up modules for ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), Preoperative Screening, Gastroenterology, Traumatology, Mammacare, Proctology, Ophthalmology, Pulmonology (Respiratory Medicine), Gynaecology, and Neurology. Modules for other specialties are in development. Additionally, ConsultAssistent includes an extensive library of PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) and PREMs (Patient-Reported Experience Measures) and modules used for screening.
Preliminary outcomes underscore ConsultAsisstents promise, featuring an impressive 75-85% patient response rate. The patient experience is notably positive, 95% of the patients who use ConsultAssistent recommend other patients to use it as well. The adoption of ConsultAssistent has yielded improved consultation efficiency, translating into heightened clinic productivity and
a reduction in outpatient follow-up visits. ConsultAssistent is a Medical Device with a CE mark, and NEN7510 and ISO 27001 certified.

In summary, ConsultAssistent is a doctor-led pioneering initiative, poised to reshape the healthcare paradigm through innovative technology and data-centric decision-making. Its commitment to patient-centricity, scalability and early successes underlines its potential in addressing the pressing challenges in healthcare and elevating the quality and accessibility of healthcare services.
